94% of UK Residents Wants a Transition from Business-as-Usual to a Green and Fair Economy

According to a survey conducted by YouGov, only 6% of UK residents want a return to business-as-usual after the coronavirus pandemic. Others, including business groups, religious and community leaders, and trade unions have called for a fair and green economic recovery that leaves the past in the past. The heads of Greenpeace, Friends of the Earth, Oxfam, Shelter and Save the Children, the director of Tate Modern, and the bishops of Dover and Manchester are among those calling for a transition from business-as-usual.

This research was released as a part of the 'Build Back Better' campaign, which calls for an economic recovery that addresses inequalities, reduces the risk of future pandemics and climate catastrophes, creates good jobs, and provides more funding for health and social care. The results show that an overwhelming majority of UK residents want a societal change that includes less inequality and more climate and environmental action.
