Bosnia-Herzegovina's Last Fur Factory has Closed

Bosnia-Herzegovina's last fur factory has closed 8 years in advance due to low profitability and public discontent with the fur industry. The Bosnian factory killed minks for their fur, but the country has now joined 14 other European countries in implementing a ban on fur production. The other countries include Belgium, Ireland, Croatia, Luxembourg, Norway, North Macedonia, The Netherlands, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Great Britain, Czech Republic, and Austria. Additionally, Bulgaria, Lithuania, Montenegro, and Ukraine are currently discussing a ban on fur production. Outside of Europe, California has banned the fur industry, but no other US state has done so.

China, Denmark, Finland, and Poland are the world's largest producers of fur. In total, these countries, and other fur producing nations such as Sweden, kill approximately 100 million animals each year.
