Smoke Pollution From the Australian Bushfires Killed More People Than the Actual Fires

33 people died in the bushfires compared to 400 people who have died from smoke pollution caused by the fires. 3151 people were also hospitalised due to cardiorespiratory issues, as were 1305 individuals who suffered asthma attacks after being exposed to the smoke pollution.Sydney was particularly effected by the smoke from the bushfires, as it recorded 81 days of poor or toxic air quality in 2019. That is more than all the days combined from 1998-2018.
